The Best Investment Advice Ever! (Haggai 1:1-2:9)

Tom Demorest, April 14, 2013
Part of the The Green Elephant series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

WHAT WE SEE IN HAGGAI 1:1-11
1. The Israelites built THEIR OWN HOMES before building THE TEMPLE.

2. Their life was a STRUGGLE.

3. God CAUSED their struggle.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR US:
The reason we struggle is we view our resources as a tool to build OUR KINGDOMS rather than GOD'S KINGDOM.

WHAT WE SEE IN HAGGAI 1:12 - 2:9
1. The Israelites OBEYED GOD and rebuilt THE TEMPLE.

2. God took their small act of faith and BLESSED IT.

3. God's PRESENCE was with them.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR US:
God will take care of OUR BUSINESS when we are devoted to HIS BUSINESS.

PRAYER OF COMMITMENT:
God, thank you for ENTRUSTING ME with your resources. Give me the strength and courage to dedicate them to building YOUR KINGDOM. Please free me from feeling the need to use them to meet my own needs and instead help me to TRUST IN YOU to meet them. Today I put you in charge of every aspect of my life, including my RESOURCES. Amen.
