Knowing God Through Solitude (John 17:1-3)

Tom Demorest, February 7, 2016
Part of the Knowing God series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Central Truth: Knowing God is not a means to the goal of faith, IT IS the goal of faith.
Spiritual Disciplines-activities that position us to grow in our knowledge of God.
1. Spiritual disciplines are not just for spiritual giants, they are for everyone.
2. Joy is the key to the spiritual disciplines, not drudgery.
3. The "why" of the spiritual disciplines are more important that the "how".
4. Beware the path of death: turning the spiritual disciplines into laws.

THIS WEEK's DISCIPLINE: Solitude (Luke 5:15-16; Mark 1-35-37)-Withdrawing from the world to be alone with God.

THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK TO ENJOY: Spend 30 minutes withdrawing from the world to be alone with GOD.
